How to Sheet Mask

I got out of the habit of using face masks over Winter but now that Spring is in the air and the current situation means that we all have a bit more free time on our hands, I've rebooted the mask obsession! Here are my top tips on using sheet masks... I’ll be the first to admit that when sheet masks first hit the beauty scene I was intimidated yet intrigued. I'd always been familiar with the skincare masks that came in tubs and tubes which you slather all over your face. Afterwards, these often involved a clean up operation of the inevitable mess left behind all over your hands and bathroom, then the annoying process of having to pick it out of your hair after washing it off…totally worth it! Simple Pleasures - Breakfast in Bed

If, like me, your breakfast usually consists of a super quick coffee and grabbing a banana as you head out the door for work then use this bank holiday to slow down and enjoy a breakfast in bed.

Long before this leisurely pastime became a very rare treat, breakfast in bed was the normal way to start the day, although it was very simple. The 17th century version involved possets of ale, tea and toast.

Clearly, the morning meal has changed and in today's hectic times 73 percent of Brits eat breakfast in under 10 minutes. A survey undertaken by Ikea in 2015 announced that 50 percent of Brits had never even had breakfast in bed! We can owe this to our busy lifestyles and possibly the annoyance of crumbs in the bed... however, making a ritual out of the occasion can help us to slow down and really appreciate breakfast time.

Give this vintage tradition a modern makeover and reap the benefits of a day started slowly this Monday.

The Essential Kit

1. A Standing Tray

The Breakfast in Bed Tray, £65 from The White Company, is just perfect with its fold away legs and lovely large surface, ensuring you can fit everything you need on top. The tray also has a deep lip to stop any of those pesky crumbs from escaping and can easily be wiped clean.
