How to Sheet Mask

I got out of the habit of using face masks over Winter but now that Spring is in the air and the current situation means that we all have a bit more free time on our hands, I've rebooted the mask obsession! Here are my top tips on using sheet masks... I’ll be the first to admit that when sheet masks first hit the beauty scene I was intimidated yet intrigued. I'd always been familiar with the skincare masks that came in tubs and tubes which you slather all over your face. Afterwards, these often involved a clean up operation of the inevitable mess left behind all over your hands and bathroom, then the annoying process of having to pick it out of your hair after washing it off…totally worth it! The idea of a single-use mask that was easy to apply and remove just didn’t compute. I decided to embrace the trend and let me tell you, I'm now hooked. Who knew beauty masks could be so quick and easy! What is a sheet mask? It’s quite literally a mask in sheet form, wit

Simple Pleasures - How to Brighten up your Working Lunch

Wolfing down lunch at our desks seems to be the done thing during a busy working week. Try to create a happy ritual out of lunchtime and reclaim the break for you.

Here are four ways to make your working lunch so much brighter and joyful than a plastic wrapped sandwich and a bottle of pop.

1. Liven up Your Lunchbox

On a recent browse around town I found the ultimate cheerful lunchbox that I've already relegated to the top of my shopping list. The LEON Rectangle Bamboo Lunch Pot, £16 exclusive to John Lewis, is a perfectly sized box of joy. The beautiful rich red colour and the contemporary, functional style is enough to put a smile on your face. The box is completely biodegradable and made from sustainable bamboo, with the lid in rolled bamboo and the base made from bamboo fibre. So, not only can you eat your lunch in style but you can also do it with a happy conscience!

2. Take a Tray

Invest in a good, stable tray to transport your lunch outside. Sitting in the fresh air away from your desk for a few minutes can do a world of good. Find somewhere near nature, like under a tree, on the grass or near flowing water. Extend the connection to nature with a natural wooden tray, like the Wooden Tray, £11.99 from Zara Home. The design is also completely practical with a deep rim to prevent spillages.

3. Bring a Beautiful Bowl

Eating from a charming piece of crockery can give your working lunch a special touch. Go for durability and calming colours. Habitat's OLMO range of speckled stoneware plates, bowls and mugs comes in a deep, dark blue. The pieces of tableware have an organic, natural shape with rims in a complimentary earthy tone. The cereal bowl is £8 from Habitat.

4. Cutlery with Class

To add a little luxury to your lunch there's nothing quite like copper cutlery. This amazing Brushed Copper Cutlery Set by Bloomingville is £35 from Trouva. I'd be happy eating my lunch anywhere if I had these in my hands!
